Google "Peak Oil", simply as one example. But motivations for being more self-sufficient on water, food, energy, sustainability issues--those (or I should say "those) are topics deserving of extensive discussion.
Here, I refer to food. It is sensible for those in Mueller to consider connecting closely with local farmers. In addition to having a farmer's market at Mueller, the community might consider possibilities such as bulk buying through entities such as:

If my family buys from such a type of vendor, we get one price. If 50 families buy for delivery by them on the same day...perhaps we get another price. The point is that it is likely that a Farmer's Market (which I wholeheartedly support for Mueller!) will not supply everything.
